On April 29, during the Himalayan Rim countries' climate change response seminar for Chinese diplomats, the Silk Road Cities Alliance officially announced the establishment of the "Belt and Road" Agricultural Collaborative Development Committee.
The "Belt and Road" Agricultural Collaborative Development Committee was jointly initiated by the Beijing Zhongnong Changxiang Planning Institute, in collaboration with relevant domestic institutions and experts. Its aim is to promote deep cooperation in agricultural technology exchange, resource integration, industry connectivity, and sustainable development among countries participating in the "Belt and Road" initiative.
At the founding ceremony, Mr. Song Ronghua (宋荣华), the founder of the Silk Road Cities Alliance, stated: "Agriculture is an important area of cooperation under the 'Belt and Road' initiative. The Committee will leverage the complementary advantages between China and the 'Belt and Road' countries to deepen collaboration in agricultural technology innovation, digital agriculture, cross-border supply chains, and more, injecting a new momentum into building a community with a shared future for mankind."
Mr. Zhang Yuchao (张玉超), the Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the "Belt and Road" Agricultural Collaborative Development Committee, and the Director of the Beijing Zhongnong Changxiang Planning Institute, stated: "The Committee will follow the principles of 'consultation, joint construction, and shared benefits,' creating a multilateral dialogue platform and a multi-level cooperation network. We look forward to using this platform to strengthen agricultural cooperation with various countries, promote resource sharing and project implementation, and support the agricultural modernization, transformation and sustainable development of countries along the Belt and Road."
In the future, the Silk Road Cities Alliance "Belt and Road" Agricultural Collaborative Development Committee will regularly host international agricultural forums and project matchmaking meetings. It also plans to establish cooperative pilot projects in countries participating in the "Belt and Road" initiative, promoting the deep integration of agricultural industry chains.
