The "Chinese-Urdu Language Essay Writing Competition" Continues a New Chapter for China-Pakistan Friendship

The year 2021 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan. Elevating to an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership in 2015, the two countries have made remarkable achievements in cooperation in various fields and deepened their friendship. On September 30, the "Chinese-Urdu Language Essay Writing Competition" was successfully concluded. Hosted by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in China and sponsored by the Silk Road Cities Alliance, this competition aimed to enhance the understanding of bilateral relations among the young people of both countries and promote the vigorous development in youth culture exchanges. 

The theme of the essay competition was 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan. The event was launched in July and received extensive participation from Chinese and Pakistani students. The candidates composed their lively essays with personal experiences and witnesses of folk friendship in Pakistan and China. They showed the feelings and cognition of Chinese and Pakistani culture, customs, natural landscape, and depicted the sincere cooperative relationship and touching moments of the two peoples plowing through the difficulties together. 

The judge panel consisted of former Chinese ambassador, professor from Minzu University of China and Urdu teachers from Pakistan Embassy College. They evaluated the works with rigorous professional attitude, and selected the excellent works from the dimensions of spiritual connotation, language expression and logical structure. 

The Pakistani youth Mr.Ayaz Muhammad, who won the first prize, discussed the exchange and cooperation between China and Pakistan in the field of education.In his article, he mentioned that China's rapid rise and the implementation of preferential policies in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor have increased the demand of the Pakistani people for learning Chinese language. The increasing scholarship, the growing number of Confucius and other Chinese institutes in Pakistan, the low cost and long-term benefits make China as the target of higher education more and more attractive. 

Ms.Ren Ziyi was the champion of Urdu essay competition. She generalized the cooperation and common development of the two countries in 70 years. In particular, Pakistan provided timely supports to China after the Wenchuan earthquake. The two countries strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction and agriculture under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in the new era. She believed that Urdu is very important as a bridge of communication, and she was willing to make more contributions to this cherished friendship by using language advantages.
