SRCA and Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China Sign Agreement to Jointly Implement “Belt and Road" Initiative

   On April 21st, the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China (hereinafter referred to as the "Chamber of Commerce") held the "Silver Jubilee Gala Dinner" in Beijing to celebrate the 25th anniversary since its establishment. More than 200 guests from the political and business circles in the Mainland China and Hong Kong attended. Present were Mr. San Yuan, Founder of Silk Road Cities Alliance, diplomats from the Embassies of the countries along the “Belt and Road”, including Ambassador of Pakistan to China Mr. Masood Khalid, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to China Mr. Anton Rill, Ambassador of the Maldives to China Mr. Mohamed Faisal and Minister-Counsellor of the Ukrainian Embassy in China, Mr. Viktor Tanasiichuk.
 
 
 
   During the dinner, Mr. San Yuan, Founder of Silk Road Cities Alliance, and Ms. Xiao Huijun, President of the Chamber of Commerce, formally signed a cooperation agreement. The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Their Excellencies Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Anton Rill, Ambassador of the Maldives Mr. Mohamed Faisal, Ambassador of Pakistan Mr. Massod Khalid. Silk Road Cities Alliance and the Chamber of Commerce will jointly hold the “Belt and Road” forum in Beijing at the end of 2018. As a co-organizer, Silk Road Cities Alliance will use its resources and platform role to help Hong Kong companies connect with the Mainland Chinese and foreign institutions and companies, in the way to allow Hong Kong enterprises to participate in the construction of the “Belt and Road” exchanges and cooperation.

   Introducing main reasons to hold "Belt and Road" forum, Ms. Xiao said that large enterprises have the inherent advantages of participating in the "Belt and Road" project. Small and medium-sized enterprises are constrained by information, resources, channels and difficulties from many other perspectives. The Chamber of Commerce is planning to organize the “Belt and Road” forum to help Hong Kong and Mainland China`s SMEs to go global and accurately interpret the “Belt and Road” policy opportunities. Organizers will invite experts and scholars focused on the “Belt and Road” development strategy and experts from the foreign Embassies in China to analyse the local needs, policies and advantages in various places.
 
   Since its establishment in 1993 in Beijing, the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China has entered its 25th anniversary. With the support and assistance of past presidents and people from all walks of life, the scope of service of the Chamber of Commerce in the Mainland has covered nine regions including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Tianjin, Wuhan, Qingdao, Sichuan, Zhejiang and Shenyang, the corporate membership has approached the impressive number of 1,000.
