Something like this never happened before. In China, there are no people who don’t know mega TV show “星光大道”, which has 14 years of history and translates into English as “Avenue of Stars”. What we know for sure is no one out there has ever heard of Ukrainians taking over the big stage of 星光大道.

On April 12th, our beautiful Ukrainian cultural band UG  Group, initiated and supported by the Silk Road Cities Alliance, debuted in 星光大道 in the spotlights with such super celebrities as 张双利, 小尼, 朱迅, 许诺, 冯提莫, 黄国伦, 寇乃馨. To remind you, our dear reader, the story of the group started not so long time ago with the appearance at the Formal Reception of the Embassy of Ukraine in China on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine, where it gained the appreciation and warm feedback from the audience. Now their destiny takes them to the “Avenue of Stars”, one of the biggest entertainment projects in China of all times.

As you know, the whole idea of 星光大道 is all about competing with other participants. Our good friend and multitalented Ukrainian young star living in Beijing Egor Shyshov (耶果), has been invited to be one of the contesters to demonstrate his unbelievable charisma and skills to the peoples of China. Egor is already quite famous here, being a constant TV host of the Tianjin TV, appeared at the numerous events and projects such as the Beijing CCTV Minimovie Festival, Chinese Circus Competition etc.

Being a true patriot, Egor decided to use the opportunity to introduce the culture, traditions and history of his homeland – Ukraine. With the help of the gifted singers and dancers from the UG Group, the decision to perform a Ukrainian folk song “If I’d have a grey horse”, which is very famous of its exiting mood and fast rhythm, was made very quickly.

“One by one the contesters were departing from the show, tensions were increasing, we didn’t know if Egor would keep playing and we actually could make it to the stage. When the moment came and we appeared in front of hundreds of guests offline and later in front of millions on TV, we relaxed and did our best to amaze the public and judges.” – commented the ladies from the UG Group. With that said, have a look at the judges and hosts, who jumped into the Ukrainian dance right away.

The unique part of the created performance was emphasized by the group of Chinese professional dancers, who assisted and supported Ukrainians on the stage. Besides, as fluent Chinese speaker, Egor kept singing the song in Chinese “我的Marusia 在哪里啊”. Reaction of the viewers on the performance was just great, long lasting applauds and smiles coming from the concert hall have inspired the participants for future accomplishments.

Nothing would be possible without the amazing fan group, which didn’t stop screaming the names of Ukrainians during the show and attracted the attention of the hosts, judges and cameras multiple times.

Don’t miss the opportunity to see this on CCTV very soon!
